How to Wash & Care for Lorena Canals Products
Can the Lorena Canals products be put in the washing machine and dryer?
Lorena Canals, as the creator of the WASHABLE rug concept, has a wide range of washable products. All our rugs are machine washable, even the wool ones. The washable rugs and cushions can be placed in the washing machine and dryer, as long as the lowest temperature setting is used in the dryer. Additionally, there are many other products in Lorena Canals that are machine washable and can be used in the dryer. We recommend that you always check the specifications on each product label.
Can wool rugs be washed in the washing machine?
Our wool rugs are also machine washable thanks to our WOOLABLE® patent. After the success of our washable cotton rugs, we wanted to go one step further and make our wool rugs washable too. Stylish, with incredible textures and innovative designs, our patent-registered WOOLABLE® range has shaken up the rug industry and made us the first in the world to offer washable wool rugs.
Will the cotton basket lose its shape when it is washed in a washing machine?
We recommend not wash cotton basket to prevent it from losing its original shape. Lint may appear, as this is residual fibre from cutting the cotton. If long or loose threads are found, we recommend cutting them with scissors.
Will the rug fit in the washing machine?
The best way to determine if a product will fit in your washing machine is to measure the product and compare it to your washing machine. Product dimensions can be found in the product description on our website or on the product label. Our product label contains detailed washing recommendations for each rug. Please read the Washing and Care instructions carefully. In addition, most washing machines have a maximum load size label located on the inside of the washing machine door.

What type of detergent should be used to wash the rug or accessory?
We recommend using a mild detergent without bleach or conditioner to avoid problems with the material or color of the product. The rugs and accessories (except green toys, wall hangings and wall decor, which should be washed only by hand) should be washed at a maximum temperature of 30˚C using a delicate program. For more details, please refer to our washing and care instructions.
Can conditioner be used to wash the rugs and accessories?
Conditioner contains chemical components that may damage rugs and accessories, so it is not advisable to use them when washing. For more details, please refer to our washing and maintenance instructions.
Can the rugs and cushions be dried in a dryer?
Yes, both the washable rugs and the cushions can be placed in a dryer, as long as the lowest temperature setting is used. Drying the washable rugs in a dryer will make their texture even softer and fluffier. Before using the rug for the first time, we recommend to place it in the dryer on a low setting for 10 minutes to remove any wrinkles that may have formed during packing. For more details, please refer to our washing and maintenance instructions.
Can damp rugs or cushion be left in the washing machine?
We recommend to inmediately remove the rug or cushion from the washing machine when the programme ends and spread it out in a dry place to dry or put it directly into a dryer at a low temperature setting. Do not under any circumstances leave a damp rug in a washing machine after washing, because the humidity may cause the colours to run, damaging the rug’s original dyes. Don’t forget that our dyes are natural, non-toxic and made using artisanal methods. The rug will not lose color after washing, because all the dyes are fixed during the process of manufacture. However, it is an artisanal and delicate product that, like any natural cotton textile, requires special care to keep it looking like new. For more details, please refer to our washing and maintenance instructions.
How can the rug be maintained in good conditions?
At Lorena Canals, we want to make sure that our rugs stay in good condition and look their best for as long as possible. Here are some tips to keep your Lorena Canals rug in optimal condition:
1. Regular vacuuming: Vacuum the rug at least once a week to avoid the accumulation of dust, dirt, and other debris that can damage the fibers of your rug.
2. Treat stains immediately: If a stain occurs on the rug, it is important to treat it immediately before it settles into the fibers. Use a specific cleaner for the type of stain and follow the recommended cleaning instructions.
3. Protect the rug: Place a protective pad underneath the rug to prevent slipping and to protect the base of the rug from wear and tear.
4. Rotate the rug: Change the location of the rug periodically to distribute wear and tear and prolong its lifespan.
5. Limit exposure to direct sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can fade and damage the fibers of your rug. Use curtains or blinds to protect your rug from direct sunlight.
Professional rug cleaning: Professional cleaning of your rug is recommended at least once a year to maintain optimal conditions and prolong its lifespan.
What are the steps to be taken if the rug gets stained?
Treat stains immediately: If the rug gets stained, it is important to treat them immediately before they settle into the fibers. Use a stain-specific cleaner and follow the recommended cleaning instructions.
